Description:
Up for sale is a Preowned 1988 Fender Stratocaster (Made in Japan) in Olympic White, with no case included. Late-’80s MIJ Fenders have a well-earned reputation for excellent build quality and playability, and this one is no exception. The neck feel, fretwork, and overall fit-and-finish are exactly what players love about this era.
This Strat has been electronically modified from its original configuration. At some point, a previous owner added a 13-pin MIDI jack (commonly used for Roland synth systems). That system has since been disconnected, and the guitar now features a pre-wired DiMarzio pickguard loaded with three DiMarzio rail pickups, offering higher output, noise reduction, and a more modern tonal range than standard single coils. The switching remains traditional Strat: master volume, two tone controls, and a 5-way blade.

Condition is very good overall, with cosmetic wear from regular use. There are numerous small dings around the edges of the body, one small ding on the front below the bridge, and notable buckle rash on the back of the body. Normal playing scratches are present on the pickguard. There is also one chip in the finish right where the bottom strap button is located. No cracks or structural issues. The modified MIDI jack remains present but is disconnected from the current electronics. Frets are clean, the neck is straight, and everything works correctly with the DiMarzio pickup system.
This guitar has been fully set up in our shop: fresh strings installed, truss rod dialed in, frets polished, action set, and intonation adjusted. Plays great, sounds strong, and offers a modern take on an ’80s MIJ classic.
