Kendrick Roughneck with Gerald Weber mods 1998

I only just learned that Mr. Weber passed away. I think it was about three years ago when he last had my Roughneck in his hands. We'd had a number of conversations over the years (I bought it back in 1998). He was bugging me to send the amp to him because he had improved the wiring from how things were back in 1998. (If memory serves, it was the grounding scheme.) So, I sent it his way. (Again, I think this was probably three years ago.) He also put some kind of higher grade copper wiring in it. I wish I could tell you the specifics, I just know that it was not cheap.

But then here comes the coup de grace: removal of the line out jack and putting in a tone circuit like a Tweed Deluxe in its place. It's a fantastic upgrade which really opens up tonal possibilities.

So here's what it is in a nutshell:

Modded sometime post 2021, upgrading the wiring and tweed Deluxe-style tone circuit added

The photos show you it's in really nice condition. Functionally perfect. You might be looking at where the tone knob is and thinking, "I'm going to burn my fingers trying to adjust it." Actually, once you figure out where it is, it's really easy to reach back and adjust it without having to crane your neck over the whole thing. It becomes totally intuitive, and it really is a fantastic mod.

I'd be curious if there are any others out there like this one. I suspect it's a unicorn; by the time he last worked on this amp things had pretty much wound down.
