Vox AC-30 Top Boost “Grey Panel” – 1964 JMI 2x12 Combo Amplifier
A superb example of the legendary early-60s Vox AC-30, in very good condition for its age, with a few sympathetic updates.

Fitted with original Albion transformers and a pair of correct-era Silver Alnico Celestion speakers. These have been professionally re-coned by RMJ Loudspeakers in Keighley, UK, retaining their original stamped gaskets. The speaker harness and mains lead have been replaced for reliability and safety. The voltage selector is missing, but both 240v and 115v taps remain accessible.

A few resistors have been replaced over the years during servicing. The amp has received a full workshop check and remains in excellent working order.

Sonically, it delivers the unmistakable tone that made the AC-30 a cornerstone of British rock – harmonically rich, with articulate chime and natural compression that blooms as you push the amp. Inspiring at any volume.

The cabinet is solid, constructed from birch ply, with minor cosmetic touch-ups in black paint. The chassis board is new, replacing the original which had deteriorated. Grill cloth and under-scrim have been replaced using correct-spec materials. The rear panel appears to be from another Vox unit; it is marked “B” rather than “TB.” Carry handles are modern replacements.

The amp is currently hard-wired for UK/EU 240v. We can convert it to 115v for North American buyers on request.
