Super Rare Turner TC-12 & TC-20 Vocal Microphones Made in USA

Two very rare high end Turner microphones that sound very good. The TC series was the top of the Turner line and claimed to spec out better than anything made by any competitor of the day. In the pictures, I’ve included a couple advertisements from 1974. Back then, these microphones sold from $130 up each or $560 and up in 2025 dollars. Tested with a regular 3 pin low impedance XLR cable and worked great.
The Turner Microphone Company was an American manufacturer of microphones in Cedar Rapids, lowa from 1931 to 1979 when they were sold to Telex who also bought Electro Voice and later became part of Bosch.

The TC series of multi-port cardioid dynamics are the finest microphones ever designed and manufactured by Turner. Each model in the series meets or exceeds the specifications for every major competitive model. All TC series microphones cover a wide 50-15,000 Hz frequency range, with an extremely flat response, all offer excellent front-to-back discrimination on a 180° axis, all feature a unique acoustic cartridge mount which virtually eliminates shock and handling noises, all have an extremely high - 55 db (0 = 1 mw/10 microbars) output level. The multi-port system, which utilizes a dual set of rear-entry ports, provides a greatly improved low frequency response while drastically reducing proximity effect-an increase in bass response with a decrease in working distance. This makes the TC series microphones particularly favorable for use in close-talk broadcast and entertainment applications. Due to its extremely flat response and uniform front-to-back ratio, the TC is also an excellent choice for use in highly sophisticated tuned or equalized sound systems.
