This guitar is a true collector’s piece: the Jackson USA Custom Shop Randy Rhoads Limited Run, Masterbuilt and hand-signed by the legendary luthier Mike Shannon. Shannon is the craftsman who, in the early 1980s, worked alongside Randy Rhoads in the creation of the very first Jackson guitars.

Only 10 guitars were ever made worldwide, each built with different specifications (bridge type, finish, details). That makes this instrument a unique, one-of-a-kind model. This particular guitar was built exclusively for the Japanese market and was originally purchased in Japan through an auction.

On the back of the headstock, you will find Mike Shannon’s hand signature. This makes it one of the rarest and most collectible guitars ever produced by the Jackson Custom Shop. Crafted from premium woods and top-grade hardware, it is both an exceptional collector’s piece and a world-class player’s instrument.

The Living Legacy of Randy Rhoads

In the early 1980s, Randy Rhoads brought his guitar designs to Grover Jackson’s Charvel workshop. From a simple sketch on a napkin came the first Jackson guitar – the futuristic, offset-V shaped “Concorde.”

The original white prototype joined the neck to the body at the 15th fret, but Rhoads requested a redesign for easier access to the upper frets. The body was reshaped – sleeker and sharper – resulting in today’s iconic Randy Rhoads model.

Sadly, Rhoads passed away tragically in 1982; however, his design has lived on as one of the most recognized and respected guitar shapes in heavy metal history. Guitar World described it as “a milestone in the evolution of the pointy guitar aesthetic that has ruled metal ever since.”

The Mike Shannon Masterbuilt Limited Run is a direct continuation of that history – one of the most desirable Rhoads models ever made.
