A bit of spec from the Web:
The Burns Flyte bass, introduced in 1974 and produced until 1977, was a unique, somewhat radical design inspired by the Concorde aircraft, with a distinctive swept-wing body shape and a pointed headstock. It was known for its bold aesthetics and was popular with some glam rock musicians of the era, like Marc Bolan and Slade. While its design was novel, its reception was mixed, and its production was short-lived.
Key Features:
Body: basswood with a bolt-on maple neck.
Fingerboard: Ebonized maple.
Pickups: Twin Mach One Humbuster humbuckers with unique five-sided metal covers.
Bridge: Dynamic Tension bridge assembly with individually adjustable saddles.
Notable Points:
The Flyte bass, also known as the “Concorde”, was part of Burns UK’s output, which was a collaboration with Shergold for guitars and Re-An for electronics.
It was a relatively expensive instrument to produce, which may have contributed to its limited run.
Despite its unique design, its sound was generally considered conventional, leading to the introduction of the Burns Mirage as a successor, before Burns UK ceased guitar production.
