Restored Allied TR-880 8 track player

35 capacitors replaced. New Power cord installed. All switches cleaned and lubricated. Track changing mechanism cleaned and lubricated. Belt replaced. New Auto Stop lamp replaced. Restored April 2025

Notes***Auto Stop lamp was replaced (old bulb was burned out) but auto stop function still didn't work after replacement. Possibly defective relay (parts aren't easy to locate). Auto Stop selection is not functional. The original owner had sliced the power cord and incorrectly applied electrical tape on it which becomes a gooey mess over the years and isn't safe so was replaced. Track Change button doesn't look original but works fine. Front panel has model number TR-880 listed however, the rear panel has model number TR-808. My best guess is the number on the rear panel is a "misprint" from the factory but not sure.

***Don't forget to check your 8 tracks for worn or deteriorated pressure pads and sensing foils. All 8 track tapes will need these replaced for proper operation. Often without good pressure pads and sensing foils, the tapes can be eaten and sound quality will suffer so take heed*** It is true that it is always a defective tape NOT the player that causes tapes to be "eaten"

*** No P.O. boxes or meet ups***
