Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.

You are looking at a very nice 1960's era Calrad model DM-21 model dynamic microphone made with an all metal body with satin chrome finish and it comes with the newer model cast iron desk stand in which to display. This style was similar to the more common Electro Voice 664 microphone that many Japanese microphone companies tried to replicate. Lafayette was a popular Japanese brand that did the same. This particular mic was also sold under the Arista, Aiwa and Lafayette name.

The Japanese mics never measured up near the same sound quality as the American counterparts but the styling and over finish was just as nice. This mic has been cleaned and tested. The element in this mic is dead and no longer works. It should be used as a display, prop or repair mic only.

These Japanese mics took a Japanese type 4 pin cable that was much smaller than the American counterpart and they were sometimes wired differently as well. This mic is actually a dual impedance mic being both Hi Z and Lo Z depending on how the cable was attached. Not all Japanese 4 pin cables were the same either as some differed slightly in nature. Some of the connectors are very tight when attached to the mic while others were more loose so you'll need to locate the correct cable for this mic and again, it no longer works.

There is extremely lite wear on the exterior as seen in the pictures provided. A couple scuff marks here and there but there are no dents, fractures or deep scratches on the satin chrome body. The painted front screen looks excellent as well.

The label / badge shows very lite wear and completely legible. The joint mechanism has lots of tension and holds the mic in place perfectly. It will a be cool accent piece to put on your shelf or coffee table.

This microphone has a classic midcentury, modern contemporary design that was very popular during the 1950's & 60's before the look faded out around the 1970's. It was copied by several manufacturers of microphones back in the day.

Mic is 100% original and solid. No loose or missing parts. I would rate this microphone physically a solid 9 on a scale of 1 - 10.

MICROPHONE STAND IS PART OF THIS SALE...

The mic comes with a nice newer Chinese model cast iron desk stand providing a very stable platform. The original black paint is very good but the 4 inch riser shows wear. The 3 rubber pads on the bottom will keep the stand from scratching any surface it may rest on. Total height with mic and stand is appx 15 inches tall (when raised up fully) X 6 inches wide.

           As with all my items...

I can promise you will be happy with it for the price paid. If not...I have a no hassle return policy. The shipping will be on you as I believe that's fair but the purchase price would be refunded. Simply return in the same nice condition...period. Check my rating. International buyers are welcome as well. Buyer must pay within 24 hours or an unpaid case will be opened due to too many unpaid mics lately. Domestic buyer will get priority shipping.

If you have any questions feel free to ask and...thanks for looking.
