(USED) Back in our shop after many years of light but meaningful use, this John Walker Wise River is a heck of a jumbo! John is one of our favorite builders in the Gibson style, and his experience in the Gibson Custom Shop taught him exactly what to do and what not to do. This guitar is all the evidence we need that those original designs can be life-changing, provided that they're implemented by a talented builder.
Classic Slope D outline with Adirondack spruce top, mahogany back and sides, and a killer burst (including subtle shading on the back and sides!) Short 24 5/8" scale, 1 3/4" nut and saddle spacing that measures just a whisker under 2 1/4". Ebony fingerboard, bridge and pins. The bone cut-through saddle is tall and has excellent break angle. The action is great, 3/32" on the bass side and 2/32" on the treble, minimal neck relief and almost no fret wear. The neck is a slim V profile, hits the hand and slightly vintage and slightly modern at the same time. The tuners are Waverly with ivoroid buttons.
The condition is great for the age of the guitar, with a few very light dings around the top, a 3/8" long scratch on the upper bout of the treble side, and some light lacquer chipping around the corners of the peghead. There is also a small ding in the neck shaft, pictured. Includes original hard case.
