Model clarification: (Internet has various brochures.) These were made in the Fujien Gakki factory in Japan, under the Fender Master Series. Within this series were Esprit and Flame sub-groups with further classifications of Standard, Elite and Ultra within those based on level of appointments. The basic guitar has slim 1 11/16” wide neck, rosewood fretoard, Schaller humbucker pick-ups and weighs 8.3lbs. The appointments on the Flame Elite include carved maple top and neck, chambered alder body, snowflake fretboard inlays, triple layer binding on body, a fine-tuning tail piece and coil tap pick-up switch. Note: These are erroneously referred to as Roben Ford guitars. In actuality, his guitar is an Esprit Ultra (with various pickups) and his name on it.

 My guitar: 1984. Sat in closet for years. Thinning out the herd in my old age. All original except for; replaced Schaller pickups with Bare Knuckles. Full sound like Gibson 57’s or Ibanez Super 58’s except brighter high end.  Previous owner swapped out volume and tone pots. Original pickups and pots included. Micro polishing swirls on back. Two tiny dings on back edge near cable jack – see pics. Frets are pristine. Overall condition is nearly new with very straight neck and low action.
