Here’s an interesting cypher of a vintage c 1979 Vesta Graham VGC/ VGD 1000, with a unique rosewood body, ala the Gibson Crest, and an interior label which appears to read “VG-2450.”
While I’ve always been a big fan of these amazing axes, I have never encountered another with the model designation, or in rosewood. One off? Non-production model? Custom order artist model?
I can however, confidently say that she‘s a hell of a player! Old Shiino was one of Japan’s most revered guitar builders, and a founder of ESP. His VG guitars are now “modern” (45 year old!) classics, and have developed a rabid following among players and collectors, both. This wild rarity does not disappoint, and plays absutely effortlesly. Arrow neck, superb fit, and feel, just a killer, lifetime quality axe.
The nitro finish has aged to almost an oil-rubbed, deep, vintage glow, with lots of delicious patina, and natural finish and play wear. 100% original, save the upgraded gold tuning machines. She ships in a quality gig bag, not pictured.
