This is the Martin Standard Series D-42, one of the all time classic Martin dreadnought guitars built of sitka spruce and East Indian rosewood, now with some refreshed features introduced to the Standard Series for 2025!

The Martin D-42 is a trusted blend of power and pearl, designed for players who seek bold tone and stunning visual details. Its Dreadnought body size delivers a loud, projective sound with strong bass, clear trebles, and rich overtones, making it perfect for both powerful strumming and intricate picking. Handcrafted with a solid spruce top and solid East Indian rosewood back and sides, the D-42 produces a resonant, balanced voice suited to all playing styles. The gloss genuine mahogany neck, featuring a Golden Era (GE) Modified Low Oval profile, high-performance taper, and 25.4" scale length, ensures smooth playability and precision. Adorned with intricate abalone details, the D-42 features snowflake inlays on the bound ebony fingerboard, a shimmering rosette, and pearl trim on the top that wraps elegantly around the fingerboard. Complete with antique white binding, an ebony bridge with bone pins and gold open gear tuners.

For the first time since 2018, Standard Series guitars are being slightly tweaked with a nice mix of modern and vintage-inspired features including Golden Era top bracing - which is a big improvement in overall volume and projection with nice vintage tones, there's a thinner fretboard much like older Martin guitars with a gently beveled edge for improved comfort. We have a Golden Era modern belly bridge with bone or ebony bridge pins and an improved nut on angle transition from the fretboard to headstock. Cosmetically we're seeing a Long Diamond neck transition and a sleeker vintage-style neck heel! Make this excellent Martin dreadnought yours today at The Music Zoo!
