Hi, I have always liked the Custom Shop Poblano Stratocasters but they can be quite expensive. The used ones are running about 4 grand now, and the new one's way above that. So, I decided to do a more affordable build for the everyman out there. Here is what's in the build. I started with a Fender "made in Mexico", 60's Road Worn model as the main platform. The body is from 2015 and the neck is a 2009 early model. The body was put through an additional cryo process to greatly increase the lacquer checking throughout, and although the pics don't really capture that, the checking is plentiful, and gives it more of an aged, custom look. The pickups are really nice, they are out of a USA Fender Custom shop 60's Strat, and feature hand-wound Poblano pickups and a bevy of Fender branded capacitors. These pups were hand-wound by Bricinda Pineda and sound absolutely awesome. The pickguard and backplate are in an aged, black 5-ply, and show very well against the relic Olympic White finish. All of the hardware has been additionally aged as well. The guitar comes with a Fender Custom Shop case and some great case-candy too. The guitar weighs in at a comfortable 7lbs.-8 ounces, so not a back breaker. So........if you do not mind the mixing of Fender MIM, Road-Worn and USA Custom Shop components this could be a great option for you. This way you can get the benefit of the Custom Shop look and tone without the great expense. Another plus is that you won't be too reticent about taking her out on the road or to gigs for fear of damage or loss that you might otherwise have taking an actual Custom Shop out there. I did a few of these builds for fun and am just asking for what I have into them parts wise. I think it's a solid value, especially if you price out what it would cost now to build one of your own. Thank you for looking.
