Really nothing bad to say about this PB 70 bass. With the exception of one small chip in the laquer on the headstock.
Low action, it plays like butter, 40mm bone nut, a light birdseye maple neck with a beautiful rosewood fingerboard, a true gem. The truss rod works perfectly, the fingerboard is straight and the neck resonates a lot.
The bass has a few minor invisible mods: new vintage wiring, 10%tolerance CTS pots, pure tone jack and an Alnico5 hand wound split-coil pickup at 11,13 kOhm that sounds way more authentic than the quarter pound it had from factory. The growl is all there and the pickup sounds full and yet detailed in the high register.
Original tuners: it stays in tune even out of the gig bag, which is included btw as well as the orignal thumb rest.
It sounds really good and I played it a lot with love and care but I can’t have all these instruments at my place.
