Here's a late 1930s era Gibson Black Special #4. It's 100% original example. The guitar would fall in the 1937-1940 range. With the exception of two professionally repaired cracks on the back, the rest of the guitar is break/crack/repair free. And the repairs are perfect. The Special #4 is essentially a 16" L-50, with a carved spruce top, flat back maple back and sides, with a mahogany neck, and rosewood fingerboard. The neck has a V profile, and plays exceptionally well. The action is low from top to bottom. Tonally it sounds full and warm like an acoustic, but also loud and clear like the archtop that it is. Sounds amazing! The original pickguard is even in great shape too! Super cool one here. HSC..
