Hi, a few years ago during the Covid shutdowns I did quite a few guitar builds to pass the time. I was enamored with the Fender Custom Shop Josefina Tomatillo Stratocaster but wasn't able financially to drop five grand plus on one. So, I thought I would do an everyman's hybrid build consisting of a MIM 2012 Road Worn 50's Strat as a starting platform and using the best Fender Custom Shop components I could muster. Here is what is in her: As I mentioned earlier the guitar is a 50's 2012 Road Worn, I added a loaded Josefina, hand wound Tomatillo guard. Josefina is Fender's Custom Shop premier winder and her guards are highly sought after and quite expensive if you can find them. The guard consists of Tomatillo low-output hand wound pups, custom wiring and a blender function that allows you to blend in different pickups togeather for a greater variety of tones. Taking it a step further, I incorporated a "Fender 54 plastics kit" consisting of " so called Bakelite", short-skirt knobs, football switch tip, rounded edged pickup covers, and a small holed trem back plate cover. These kits were available many years ago for Fender's 54 Strat reissue, and have long been discontinued, and are next to impossible to find now at any price. I thought it would be a nice touch. The body and neck are all shot in nitro lacquer and have been aged along with all of the hardware to give her more of a relic-aged look. I even provided a Custom Shop, lacquered tweed case to house her, and a bunch of nice case-candy and strap. I am selling her at just what I have into her in my costs. The guitar comes in at 7lbs-10 ounces on my scale, and sounds wonderful. It was just my way to get the Custom Shop look, feel and tone for a reasonable outlay. Thanks for looking.
