Personal Thoughts:

The Brian May SJ-200 12-String is a truly special signature model from Gibson’s Custom Shop, blending iconic J-200 craftsmanship with Brian May’s unique specifications to create a rich, harmonically complex acoustic experience. This model captures the grand, orchestral tone of a traditional SJ-200 while adding the shimmering depth of a 12-string, making it an inspiring instrument for both songwriting and performance.

The Vintage Sunburst finish over the solid Sitka spruce top looks absolutely stunning, with deep hues that highlight the natural grain and elegant curves of this legendary jumbo body shape. The rosewood back and sides add extra warmth and depth, giving the guitar a rich, full-bodied resonance with clear, chime-like highs and deep, balanced lows.

Playability is fantastic, with the mahogany neck offering a comfortable rounded profile, making this one of the most accessible and smooth-playing 12-strings on the market. The rosewood fingerboard is beautifully finished, and the Mother of Pearl crown inlays add a touch of classic Gibson elegance.

The LR Baggs Custom Pickup System ensures that this guitar sounds just as stunning plugged in as it does acoustically, making it an excellent choice for both recording and live performances. The SJ-200 mustache bridge enhances sustain and projection, giving the guitar remarkable clarity even in a dense mix.

This is not just a collector’s piece—it’s an incredibly musical instrument, perfect for players who want the legendary SJ-200 sound with the extra depth and harmonic shimmer of a 12-string.
