ITEM DESCRIPTION: For sale is one one of the classics of parametric equalization. The Sontec MEP-250 is a 5-Band Dual Channel Parametric Equalizer with 3 fully parametric bands per channel, with each channel having its own high and low shelving bands for taming the corner frequencies. This is one of the early MEP-250 builds and represents the unparalleled design brilliance of Burgess MacNeal and George Massenburg. Unit has fresh caps and houses the fabled HS-1000 op amps. The unit's frequency range is from around 10Hz to just under 27kHz. I just had the pots cleaned with Rob Harvey's Clear Stuff, and am trying to talk myself into building out another room so as to rationalize holding on to this unit. Bottom line is that this is one of those strangely magical boxes from the early days of parametric use. This unit is in good preowned cosmetic condition for a piece with origins dating back more than 50 years. Of course, it is well-worn and has been maintained with care over the years.
