Gibson Byrdland ’69 in stock!!!
The "Byrdland" is a full-body acoustic model named after legendary guitarists Billy Byrd and Hank Garland. It’s a highly popular model, loved by top musicians worldwide. Essentially, it's a semi-hollow version of the Gibson L-5CES, with a short-scale neck, making it a remarkable model that stands out in the Gibson lineup.
This particular model is identified as a 1969 model based on its serial number range and round cutaway design. Its faint coloring, extensive weather checking, aged binding, and patina on the parts give it an impressive vintage vibe. For Gibson vintage enthusiasts, its look alone is irresistible. The sound is incredibly sweet, enveloping the player with its rich tone, and the plugged-in sound, along with the natural resonance that has developed over time, is outstanding.
With a 23-1/2-inch (approximately 596.9mm) short scale and a 17-inch body size, the Byrdland offers a perfect fit with a depth of 2-1/4 inches. This model has a softer string tension, making it very practical to play. The top is made from beautiful spruce with tight grain, while the sides and back are crafted from elegant maple with a refined figure. The neck is a stunning five-piece laminated maple with a walnut center, featuring a beautiful flamed maple finish. The fingerboard is made of rare, jet-black ebony, a precious material nowadays. The nut width is just under 43mm, and the neck grip is a comfortable rounded shape. The guitar weighs around 3.05kg, making it easy to handle.
Equipped with two "Stickered Numbered" pickups, the sound output is warm, mellow, and full of character. The luxurious aesthetic includes multi-ply bindings on the body top, back, and headstock, beautiful block inlays on the fingerboard, a flowerpot inlay on the headstock, a tailpiece with the "BYRDLAND" inscription, gold tuners, and bound F-holes, giving it an upscale and elegant look.
As a vintage piece, some parts like screws and the truss rod cover have been replaced, and there is some rust, but it’s in great playable condition. The unique resonance of the short-scale neck, honed over time, is exceptional, and I highly recommend experiencing its magnificent sound firsthand. The guitar comes with the original hard case (please note, the pickguard is not included).
