The Case...

This guitar comes with its original hardshell case, COA and case candy as seen in the photos. It has light storage wear

The Guitar!

Ok... this guitar has a bit of a story. I purchased it new from Musician's Friend to review on my show. At the time I was part of Gibson's Artist Relation program and the one I was buying through that avenue was taking too long to arrive and I wanted to make the video while the model was still current! (this will become relevant later.)

This is the guitar you see in the attached video, but as is common on these Murphy Lab guitars - the finish will start to peel away. Since I had full warranty, I sent it in for evaluation. After 6 months or so this showed up on my doorstep. They did a full refinish and re-aging job. The finish checking is ULTRA deep, similar to how they aged the Hendrix SG Customs, but you can verify the fretboard is the same one so it is certainly the same guitar.

Now here is the problem. The COA and all paperwork read #74. The headstock said #74 when I sent it out, but now it says #34 when I got it back. #34 is the serial of MY OTHER Johnny Winter Firebird that was apparently denied warranty claim for the same reason. Someone at Gibson had to have referenced the wrong email when reapplying the serial number. For that reason, there are now 2 #34s in the world. This is not the typical case of "guitar center sent the guitar in the wrong case with wrong paperwork" - it is technically a Gibson factory error. I'm happy to sell the #34s as a set or separately.

All that aside... this was one of my favorite playing firebird! Custom Shop with 60s specs and a great neck - it can't be beat! Wether the aging is to your taste or not... at least you don't have to worry about the finish flaking off this one unlike all the other ones on the market...

This has sat unplayed since I got it back from Gibson. I have noticed some interesting 'stand rash" like discoloration to one of the checking areas, but I'm not sure what caused it as it has never been in contact with a stand.

UNLESS YOU TELL ME OTHERWISE - I WILL REMOVE THE STRINGS+TUNERS BEFORE SHIPPING TO AVOID DAMAGE IN TRANSIT (AT LEAST THE TOP 3)
