Hello, I am selling my nicest guitar, a Gibson 50th Commemorative Flying V electric guitar in Gibson’s Brimstone Burst #0290/1,000, made in 2008 and Guitar of the Month (GOTM). I am the 2nd owner and I’ve had this for a few years and never really played it.  The previous owner must not have played it much either and that’s why I bought it.  The guitar still looks like new.

Celebrate the Flying V's 50th with this Guitar of the Month!

The Gibson Commemorative 50th Anniversary Flying V solid body electric guitar celebrates a half-century of a great instrument that's still as vital as ever! This Commemorative 50th Anniversary Flying V has been named the Guitar of the Month by Gibson for March 2008, with only 1,000 being made. From the quality maple top to the gold hardware and special appointments, this guitar more than lives up to its billing.

50th anniversary
Though Gibson's Flying V is an immediately recognizable, sought-after instrument that graces stages and studios worldwide these days, it wasn't always such a popular design. In fact, when the V first left the drawing board in 1958, many in the guitar world dismissed its "futuristic" design as gimmicky and inefficient. The line was discontinued in '59, but luckily for us, Gibson revived the Flying V in 1967.

Premium build and components
The Commemorative 50th Anniversary Flying V features a AA maple top, beveled body, and an ebony fingerboard for great playability and classy looks. The gold hardware, split block inlays, gold frets, gearless tuners, and 50th Anniversary truss rod cover make great appointments for this special guitar. Each of the 1,000 Commemorative 50th Anniversary Flying Vs produced include a Guitar of the Month case (and if you've ever had a Flying V, you know how important a quality case can be!).

A worthy Guitar of the Month
By naming the Commemorative 50th Anniversary Flying V its Guitar of the Month for March 2008, Gibson pays an extra measure of tribute to this historic guitar. Its retro-futuristic design still turns heads half a century after its design was first unleashed, and, of course, it sounds absolutely incredible.

Previous review:    I am a guitar collector and run a studio, so I've gone through my fair share of Gibsons. Just like everyone says, they're either awesome or suck and the quality is all over the place sometimes. I have both the V and the Explorer so I'll just review them both because they have a set of unique features that set them both apart from the pack. First and foremost, this is NOT your 1958 Korina re-issue, these axes are a whole different animal and that's why I loved them. Let's start with the main differences from the norm on these bad boys. First and foremost, that have a carved maple cap in "brimstone burst." They're supposed to be AA, but like many Gibson's, they're barely an A at best, if that. Nonetheless, they have flame and the finish is rather cool and make the pair a sight to behold. The beveled corners, gold frets, split block MOP inlays, and Steinberg gearless tuners make this thing outrageously cool. Did I say they were a guitar of the month limited to only 1000 and they BOTH have Ebony fretboards, which, as you may know, have become a more prized wood in the guitar community. What is also unique is that, to my knowledge, these are the ONLY Gibsons to support the Ted McCarty "prototype" Gibson logo that they found amongst his original notes. The V actually has a red art-decco inlay over the headstock that's gorgeous and totally unique. How do they play and sounds? JUST AS A GIBSON SHOULD. If you don't like the "Gibson" tone then these are not the guitars you want. The V has a little more overall high end, but both have a very Les Paul buttery tone to them. The 57 Classic Plus screams out harmonics for metal and leads and the 57 in the neck has very round, bluesy notes that studio guys look for in clean tones. Bottom line, these guitars look, sound and play amazing. The steinberg tuners, albeit weird, should be on EVERY guitar, they are better than any locking system I have ever used. Imagine a V or Explorer with all the appointments of a Les Paul Supreme and more. That's what you got, and there are only 1000 each. I can only imagine these will appreciate in value for any collector and be a go-to in the studio or live for any serious player.

Other notes:
When I first bought this guitar, I had it professionally set-up and the original Gibson tune-o-matic bridge was replaced w/ a new Gibson tune-o-matic bridge as the original gold plating was starting to wear off.  The original bridge is in the guitar case.  No other modifications were done to this guitar.  This guitar still looks brand new. The Gibson black case does have a few minor scuffs, etc., nothing major.

Shipping:
This guitar and case will be shipped via UPS w/ their 2 Day Air for $275.00.  For comparison, USPS would charge $278 for their USPS Ground Service and would take just over 2 weeks.  This guitar & case will have bubble-wrap and Styrofoam inside the shipping box.  Signature is required by shipper. Additional postage will be charged for shipping to Canada or Europe.  .Please inquire beforehand.  It is difficult to calculate shipping, so inquire beforehand for a more accurate quote, telling me your city and zip code. Chances are postage would be much cheaper.

Return & refund procedure:

Item can be returned within 3 days of receipt.

Full refund and seller pays for the return shipping costs.
Refund will be issued once the guitar is back in the seller’s hand.

Conclusion:

You should be extremely happy that you bought this limited production commemorative 50 year Gibson Flying V.  You don’t see these very often and in such near-new condition.  I also make my handcrafted fossilized walrus ivory guitar picks in various shapes and sell these also on Reverb.  You’d be glad that you bought some of these also (USA only).Again, Thank You…

Final Note:

 Thank you.
