Ableton Move is a Portable Groovebox, Sampler and Synthesizer for Making Music Anywhere

Ableton Move is a portable standalone instrument for starting ideas, building tracks, sampling sounds, and staying in the flow without needing a computer. With its simple workflow, built-in sounds, expressive pads, microphone, speaker, battery, and deep Ableton Live integration, Move makes it easy to capture ideas wherever they happen.

Since its release, Move has continued to grow through major software updates. As of Move 2.0, it is more powerful and flexible than ever with audio tracks, sample slicing, USB-C audio, Link Audio, new effects, deeper synth editing, and expanded control of Ableton Live.

Create Without Overthinking

Move is built for momentum. Use its four flexible tracks for drums, instruments, samplers, or audio clips. Start with the included library of over 1,500 sounds, presets, samples, and loops, or record your own sounds using the built-in microphone, 3.5 mm line input, USB-C audio input, or internal resampling.

Move’s 32 velocity-sensitive pads with polyphonic aftertouch, 16-step per page sequencer, nine encoders, and compact OLED display give you a hands-on way to build beats, melodies, patterns, and full musical ideas.

Audio Tracks - Load samples or record audio directly into audio tracks. Move keeps audio clips in sync with the global tempo, while high-quality time-stretching lets you adjust tempo and pitch independently. Audio tracks can also process live input through effects, turning Move into a compact performance effects unit.

Link Audio - Send audio wirelessly from Move to Live 12.4 or Push 3 using Link Audio over a local network. This makes it easier to move ideas between devices, collaborate, and record Move into a larger Ableton setup.

USB-C Audio I/O - Use Move’s USB-C connection for audio input and output. Sample digital audio from a computer, phone, or tablet, or use Move as a class-compliant USB audio interface.

Sample Slicing - Slice samples directly on Move and turn recordings into playable, rhythmic material without moving to a computer.

Effects - Move now includes an expanded set of effects, including Auto Filter, Auto Pan-Tremolo, Auto Shift, Erosion, Channel EQ, Chorus-Ensemble, Delay, Dynamics, Phaser-Flanger, Redux, Reverb, and Saturator.

Full Drift Editing - Access all of Drift’s parameters on Move and design your own analog-style synth sounds directly from the hardware.

16 Pitches - Play and sequence individual drum samples melodically across multiple pitches — ideal for bass lines, tuned percussion, vocal chops, and one-shot melodies.

Arpeggiator and Repeat - Turn held chords into rhythmic note patterns with Arpeggiator, or use Repeat to quickly create rolls, fills, and fast rhythmic gestures.

Control Live Mode - Use Move as a compact control surface for Ableton Live. Work with Live Sets in Note Mode, launch clips and scenes in Session Mode, and move between hardware and software when you’re ready to refine your ideas.

Ready to Play

Move includes a curated sound library from Ableton’s sound design team, with samples, presets, drum hits, and artist collaborations. Shape tracks with built-in effects, automate parameters, sequence beats and melodies, capture ideas after you play them, and transfer Sets to Live, Note, Push, or Move Manager using Wi-Fi and Ableton Cloud.

Tactile control

Shape sounds with nine touch-sensitive, endless rotary encoders, and play notes, beats, samples, and clips with 32 backlit pads. Each pad responds to pressure independently, letting you add more movement to your tracks.

Play now, refine later

Create, rework and combine ideas, then head to Live to add finishing touches. Wi-Fi connectivity means you can easily transfer Sets to Live and Note with Ableton Cloud and Move Manager.

Move’s tight integration with Live’s interface and workflow also makes it the ultimate compact control surface for Ableton Live.
