Here's what customers have said about the “777” '59 PAF…
eBay User htfnpeters –
“Absolutely the best, all the way around! The pickup and service was first class. Don't hesitate to buy from this seller. The pickups sound amazing, what a difference they made in my Les Paul.”
eBay User tommyspencer –
“Absolutely fabulous! Nice clarity, and crunch. Smooth and creamy. Thank you so much for delivering a great product!”
Reverb User Ryan M. –
“Corey, man I can’t get over these pickups. These are best pickups I’ve ever played… It’s awesome how you eliminated that typical A5 magnet treble response. Still has the tight bass response and clarity of an A5 magnet without the harshness typically associated with them. Also amazed at how well they go from clean to mean. They are right at home with either. Looking forward to getting a pair in my 335 ASAP.”
Reverb User Marko B. –
“The pickup sounds amazing! Thanks so much my friend!”
Reverb User Troy M. who bought a guitar from someone else with the pickups already loaded -
“The pickups in the Les Paul are absolutely amazing. The tone it gives is crazy awesome whether it be clean or cranked up on overdrive, I wasn't expecting that much of a difference...”
V16 Guitars is a Veteran Owned, one-man operation. I wind each “777” ’59 PAF Humbucker individually from USA-sourced materials, and just like the originals, they include:
· Rough-cast Alnico V magnets charged in-house
· Nickel-Silver stamped baseplates
· Butyrate plastic bobbins
· Enamel-Coated 42AWG wire
· Maple wood spacers
· Low-Carbon 1010 alloy fillister screws
· 1215 alloy slugs
The final product is a clear, articulate pickup (about 7.8K ohm on the bridge, about 6.8K ohm on the neck) with great string articulation that will break up beautifully and clean up with a roll of the volume knob. The key to any great sounding PAF, all things considered, is in the winding speed, tension, pattern, the number of winds on the coil, and the quality of the magnet. Every pickup builder does their bit a little differently. I won’t go into detail on my process (I need to keep some trade secrets to myself, right?) but suffice to say that part of what makes my pickups sound great is that I don’t take any shortcuts, like many do, to streamline the process and save time. Some of those little shortcuts do impact tone, and I don’t mind spending a few extra minutes to get it right. And my magnets – the best money can buy, straight out of Tennessee.
I love building pickups nearly as much as I love building fine guitars. The great thing about winding pickups is that in just a matter of a few hours, you can create something that has as much to do with the tone of an instrument as the hundreds of dollars spent in hand-picked tone woods and the 150+ hours spent building and painting the thing. That’s a powerful feeling!
Before you hit the Buy button, here’s a note about covers; If you want a cover, or covers, my covers are nickel-silver (no brass) and I generally keep chrome, polished nickel ($12.50/ea), gold ($17.50/ea), or medium aged nickel ($35/ea, relic'd in-house). Let me know what you’d like before you buy and I’ll modify the listing to include it before you hit the button.
I am confident that you will love these pickups. I’m so sure that I will give you 30 days with them. If you don’t like what you hear, just send them back to me in saleable condition and I’ll give you your money back. No problem, no hassle.
