Gibson ES-175D Model Arch Top Hollow Body Electric Guitar (1978), made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, serial # 72568125, sunburst top, dark back and sides finish, laminated maple body and neck, rosewood fingerboard, black tolex hard shell case.

This is an overall super clean example of a 1978 ES-175 D, Gibson's perennial "working man's" full-depth electric arch-top. This dark tobacco sunburst beauty is from the relatively short-lived era when Gibson used a laminated maple neck on these instruments instead of the traditional mahogany, resulting in a slightly brighter overall sound. The nut is still slimmer than early '60s instruments at 1 5/8" and has the volute introduced in 1970, otherwise this classic design was little changed from the late 1950s. The guitar carries twin humbucking pickups and a '70s style Tune-O-Matic bridge, with all hardware chrome plated. In any era the ES-175 is simply an perennial design, a great gigging jazz guitar and superb all-around electric.

Overall length is 41 1/2 in. (105.4 cm.), 16 in. (40.6 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 3 1/4 in. (8.2 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 5/8 in. (41 mm.).

This guitar is very clean overall, really looking not much used over the last 45+ years. It is all original except for a superb older refret and very subtle overspray just to the back of neck; the previous owner had this done long ago to cover the wear starting to happen down to the maple. As a result of this the serial number is somewhat obscured but still visible under close inspection.

Apart from this one the finish is original, and looks more a couple of years old than nearly a half-century. The guitar really appears only very used and extremely well cared for with only some small scuffs, dinks and handling marks. The frets have practically no wear and this ES-175 sounds and plays just as it should; a practically new-feeling 45+ year old Gibson ready to gig, housed in a more recent HSC. Overall Excellent + Condition.
