PEARL CLASSIC MAPLE 4 PIECE DRUM KIT CUSTOM MADE FOR STEVE WHITE, GOLD SPARKLE, GOLD FITTINGS

Here we have a phenomenal kit originally custom made for a phenomenal drummer! This is Steve White's Pearl Classic Maple specially made for him by Pearl Japan in 1995. This was the first kit of it's kind, never before had a Gold Sparkle Lacquer been made by Pearl and certainly not with the combination of Gold Fittings. Whilst Pearl have offered various Gold Sparkle Lacquers and Wraps over the years that followed, none have been exactly the same as this particular finish making the sets appearance completely exclusive. The kit was made at Pearl's Japanese HQ, the toms and the bass drum have the same 4 ply, 5mm thick shells as the production line MMX series kits. The snare drum is a matching Pearl Custom Classic which is a stream bent solid maple shell with all Brass fittings. Throughout the years Steve played Pearl, he would often be seen playing a Custom Classic series, the particular snare that comes with this kit is a complete one off in terms of the colour.

Steve can be seen playing this kit on many TV appearances with Paul Weller during 1995 & 1996. In 1996 the band were promoting the Heavy Soul album, this Gold Sparkle kit is on the cover of the first single (Peacock Suit) and features inside the Heavy Soul album booklet. There are three great videos of the kit which we will share below, one is of the Paul Weller Band playing the White Room. We've also found a lovely piece of footage with a 3 way drum battle featuring Steve, Gilson Lavis and the late great Charlie Watts, this is the kit Steve plays.

The kit comes with a signed certificate of authenticity signed by Steve White himself. The condition of the shells are fantastic for the age. The Gold plating on the Drum Set and Brass fittings on the Custom Classic do have natural age related Patina.

This kit is iconic, firstly because it was built for Steve, then because of the records and live performances Steve used it for and finally because it is a total one off kit made at Pearl HQ.
