Anton Pilar – 1939 pre-war Extremly Rare German Vintage MASTER Archtop Jazz Guitar / Gitarre

This is an extremly rare piece. Anton Pilar is an old instrument maker in berlin. The brand was founded in 1909 when Pilar came from Bohemia where he got his luthier certificate. His family has a long history of making violins in that part of todays czechia. They are quite a famous name in the violinmaker industy. Jaroslav, the son of Anton, was the guitar luthier in the small family buiseness they started in Berlin. They made guitars from 1929 to 1960.

All of the guitars where masterfully crafted custom orders. There is not a single guitar like the other. And all oft hem where masterpieces. They only made 126 guitars in total, so they are quite a rare sight. This is one oft he earlier models, it is from 1939 and has the model number 30/126. It is the earliest one wich is known to still exist.

The guitar is fully made out of solid, carved high quality woods. The neck is fully straight and the action is low, so the guitar is very comfortable to play. The sound is very deep and has a lot of vintage complexity. I legit have rarely heared a guitar sound this good. If the acoustic sound is not enough, a schaller pickup system was put on. It is from the 1960s and is fully working without any issues. The guitar was played and loved a lot by the previous owner, this kind of optical wear can tell you a lot about the great sound.
