This is a very cool custom bass made by luthier Mike Sherman. It has quite a long story - the original owner waited ages for the build, and ended up getting the bass without a finish. The finish was completed by Michael Dolan, a respected luthier out of California.
The range this bass has is crazy - it’s the equivalent of 40 frets. I have never seen another extended range 7 string with this much range. The sustain is certainly less at the extreme high register, but it sounds great overall. The hardware is Hipshot USA, and the active pickup is a Nordstrand with an East preamp. String spacing is 15mm.
It’s in nice condition cosmetically. I had it set up recently, had a slap bar installed for versatility, and had the finish buffed during the last setup. It plays well and is ready to go!
