This Wurlitzer all mahogany mandolin, was made between 1919-1921 for Wurlitzer by Lyon & Healy. It is in the style that both Martin and Lyon and Healy were using, flat back, bent top, but the neck heal is definitely Lyon & Healy not Martin. It's also rare, as neither made all mahogany mandolins for their own catalogs, only for Wurlitzer and Ditson as far as I can tell. The finish is in good shape. The fingerboard is stained, probably fruit wood, as was common then, tuners original and working well. Scale length is 13 inch, old scale length.
There was no bridge, so I have made an ebony one and replaced the tailpiece, which was missing the cap, with an Allen tailpiece, which is tonally better and nicer looking.
It's a very nice Old Time and Bluesy sounding mandolin, as well as Irish trad sound. Comes with a new HSC. See the attached video playing with the Tropical Themed parlor guitar. I would consider selling them as a set. The following video is both instruments together , look for "Randolin Music w/ Nowa and Dwight playing century old mandolin and guitar."
Randolin Music is Luthier owned and operated, all repairs and restorations done by us.
