Anselmo Solar Gonzalez No.296 1991

This terrific guitar was made by Anselmo Solar Gonzalez in 1991. Anselmo Gonzalez is a highly regarded luthier among Madrid guitar makers. He started his career as an apprentice at the workshop of Santos Hernandez. After Hernandez's death, he worked along with Marcelo Barbero and Arcangel Fernandez.

Traces of Anselmo’s signature are still visible one the label of this instrument.

Currently, if a leading Spanish luthier is using 40+ years old woods to make any guitar, it is priced at least $10000USD.

His guitars are powerful with deep basses and strong round and glassy trebles, magnificent sustain, and high level of transparency.

Since the nut on this guitar is 51.00 mm wide it must have been a special order instrument.

Although it shows some signs of use, the overall condition of this guitar can be described as "excellent for its age". Its body doesn’t bear any conspicuous scratches or dents, and the showiest cosmetic flaw is light attrition on the side of its neck. What some may imagine to be a crack in the soundboard (near the center seam below the bridge) is nothing but a cracked wrinkle in the original finish. While looking at the soundboard from certain angles one can see more of these wrinkles within the finish. Most importantly the neck is straight, while fingerboard and frets remain in very good condition. Original defective tuners were replaced with brand new Gotoh set.

This guitar will be shipped in used original “Barbados” Hard Shell Case in good condition.

THE ONLY PURPOSE OF THIS CASE IS TO PROTECT THE GUITAR DURING SHIPMENT. I WILL NOT PROVIDE ITS DETAILED DESCRIPTION OR MAKE ADDITIONAL PICTURES, NOR I WILL ACCEPT ANY COMPLAINTS. IF YOU DON’T LIKE THIS CASE YOU WILL NEED TO BUY A DIFFERENT ONE.

WHEN YOU BUY ANY GUITAR, YOU MUST ANTICIPATE TAKING IT TO YOUR LOCAL GUITAR SHOP FOR FINAL ADJUSTMENTS CALLED “SETUP”. DEPENIDNG ON YOUR PLAYING TECHNIQUE, THIS SETUP ON USED GUITARS MAY INCLUDE NEW CUSTOM-MADE NUT AND SADDLE. IF YOU HEAR STRING BUZZ IT DOESN’T MEAN THAT GUITAR IS DEFECTIVE. IF YOU PLAY HARD ENOUGH ALL BASS STRINGS WILL BUZZ OVER THE FRETS, UNLESS THEY ARE SUSPENDED VERY FAR FROM THE FINGERBOARD. UNLESS YOU PLAY QUITE GENTLY, YOU CAN’T HAVE LOW ACTION AND NO BUZZES. KEEP IN MIND THAT CELLO-LIKE BASSES ON HIGH GRADE CLASSICAL GUITARS HAVE THEIR NATURAL “BUZZ”.
