Hamer USA Chaparral Custom Shattered Glass Original Graphic 1989'

A rare and highly collectible late-'80s Hamer USA Chaparral featuring the iconic Shattered Glass Graphic, one of the most striking and sought-after custom finishes produced during Hamer's golden era of high-performance superstrats.

Inspection of the neck pocket and pickup cavities reveals the original fluorescent yellow undercoat and factory production markings, consistent with Hamer USA's documented finishing process for custom graphic instruments from this period. These details strongly support the originality of the factory-applied Shattered Glass finish.

The overall condition is very good for its age, showing only normal signs of careful use while remaining structurally excellent.

The neck is exceptionally stable and comfortable, featuring the fast-playing profile that made the Chaparral series a favorite among late-'80s and early-'90s rock, fusion, and shred players. The frets remain in very good condition with plenty of life remaining, and the guitar has been professionally set up for excellent playability.

The front pickup has been upgraded to a Seymour Duncan Hot Rails humbucker in single-coil format, offering increased output and versatility while retaining a clean appearance. The original front pickup is also included.

One particularly interesting detail is Hamer USA's unique finishing process used for premium custom graphic instruments such as the famous Shattered Glass and Fire Graphic models. Rather than applying dark colors directly onto the bare wood, Hamer first coated the entire body with a vivid fluorescent yellow undercoat. This bright base layer was intentionally used to enhance the depth, contrast, and three-dimensional appearance of the graphic artwork applied on top.

Inspection of the internal cavities confirms the presence of this original fluorescent yellow undercoat along with factory-applied production markings, further supporting the authenticity of the original graphic finish. Such factory characteristics are highly desirable among collectors, as they provide valuable evidence of a genuine period-correct Hamer USA custom graphic instrument.
