About This Listing

Used - Good Cosmetic Condition, Fair Playable Condition

  • Body: the top, back, and sides all show some obvious scuff marks, scratches, dings, dents and chips in the lacquer, plus there is some heavy playing wear around the soundhole and moderate to heavy buckle rash on the back, but there are no cracks in the top or body; the pickguard has obvious wear from years of playing and is also lifting up underneath strings, and the binding around the top and back show some small dings
  • Neck, Fretboard, and Headstock: the fretboard has some shallow scratches/indentations between some of the frets; there is an obvious repair crack across the neck that runs from one side of the fretboard all the way across the the other side, plus there are some noticeable scratches, dings, and dent along the back of the neck; the headstock has a some small scrapes around the front and back edges, plus the Yamaha logo is completely worn off the front
  • Action and Playability: the action is high and the neck has a bit of a bow, however the truss rod nut is stripped and cannot be adjusted, but there is no neck heel separation and the bridge is securely attached to the top of the body; the truss rod cover is included, however the screws are missing
  • Frets: moderate to heavy wear with some small grooves forming on the lower frets and the middle to a few of the higher frets are little flat, however there is no buzz or fret out caused by these issues, likely due to the higher action
  • Hardware: the finish on the tuners has dulled a bit over the years and the plastic buttons have a few scuff marks and scratches on them
  • Includes: acoustic guitar, truss rod cover (missing screws), and hardshell case (one of the latches for the case is missing and the handle is broken)

The FG heritage extends back to the 1966 release of the FG-180, the first production acoustic guitar by Yamaha. This FG-140 you see here before your eyes was made in Japan not too long after that sometime in 1970. For lots of players, the “red label” FGs are the most iconic Yamaha acoustic guitars ever produced. The FG-140 features a solid spruce top, solid mahogany back and sides, mahogany neck, and a rosewood fretboard and is constructed to with stand years and years of constant playing...even after a neck/headstock repair and the action being a bit on the high side here, this Nippon Gakki Yamaha still delivers a sweet tone! If you're a singer/songwriter looking for a quality guitar for long nights at the beach or around the camp fire, then this Yamaha is ready to deliver the good times!
