This EVH Wolfgang Standard is a sturdy and dependable Electric Guitar. It was originally Matte Blue Frost- sometimes called "Ice Blue". It has been hand painted by Canadian Artist James Walsh in tribute to his former boss and friend Eddie Van Halen using the stripe design created by Eddie himself for the EVH 'Frankenstrat' and EVH merchandise. Some of the ice blue color is still showing through. The back of the guitar has a custom paint job designed by the Artist ( see photos)
In the 1990’s, James’ worked for EVH for 5 years. James' insights were fundamental in the development of the Peavey Wolfgang and the Peavey Wolfgang Special in the EVH Summit in Beverly Hills, California, By providing feedback on the Peavey prototype James gave Eddie suggestions on what would be practical for himself and other guitarists. The Peavey Wolfgang Special won the NAMM Show Award that year. James is carrying on the modding and painting tradition started by Ed in Pasadena and continued later at "Vallerie Villa" in Beverly Hills, California. It can be said EVH was one of the most creative people I ever knew and inventive too. Eddie was always being creative and sometimes made one of kind guitars that matched classic custom cars that were sold at auction. In 1994 Eugenia Van Halen told me she "started Ed on Strauss waltzes at age 5." Nice Mom !
Upgrades to this EVH Wolfgang Standard include: Inlays of mother of pearl into the black neck markers; Abalone and Mother of Pearl inlays into the body of the guitar that are Diamonds and Stars. EVH Stickers and decals. Gold EVH Pickup Covers with EVH Logo (only 2 in existence that are gold, unless you count Wolfgang's ES-335 style guitar pickup covers in chrome). Made in USA Gold Floyd Rose Steel saddles upgrade direct from Floyd Rose shop thus replacing the original zinc saddles. The sound of the EVH pickups is simply awesome. This guitar just stays in tune for days. Black Allen Wrench holder added to back of headstock. Guitar has D'Addario Nickel Silver XL Light Gauge Strings.
The paint design on the front includes 3 Red and White EVH Guitar Picks by Van Halen and one Mother of Pearl pick representing the original 4 Members of the band. The white Mother Of Pearl pick represents Sammy Hagar or DLR if you like. Also on the front is a American quarter from 1994. Dunlop Strap Locks and Custom High Quality Red and Black and White Woven Strap. This guitar is very slightly relic'd to carry on the almost road worn look created by Eddie. Note: As of 2022 the "Blue Frost" body color is no longer available and has been replaced by EVH Guitars with "Miami Blue". The body is a flat slab with arm contour and feels solid as a rock and the maple neck feel fast and smooth and solid. EVH Whammy bar is black and fits snug. IMHO : Built to take a beating and keep right on Rockin'...

The two-piece bolt-on maple neck has graphite reinforcement rods and a convenient truss rod adjust spoke wheel at the base of the neck. The maple fingerboard has a 12"-16"compound radius and 22 jumbo frets. The EVH Wolfgang humbuckers are mounted directly to the body to increase vibration transfer for better sustain. The Floyd Rose on the EVH Wolfgang Standard is an EVH branded Floyd Rose Special with zinc alloy sustain block. The Floyd Rose on this guitar doesn't come with the D-Tuna device.

PG Review by Gerry Ganaden: "The new EVH Wolfgang is a guitar made from years of Eddie Van Halen’s own research. It has an ease of playability and though somewhat small-bodied, it sounds like a herd of wild elephants when cranked through an overdriven amp. The outstanding features of the guitar are the stainless steel frets, the thinly coated body, low-output pickups screwed into the wood, and the non-floating Floyd Rose seated into the body. After putting this guitar through the ringer, abusing the volume knob, dive bombing the Floyd and trying to outplay the fretboard for several hours, this guitar kept coming back—no need to retune it, or even consider adjusting the polepieces in the bridge pickup. Checking the fretboard for a hair of wear on the frets turned up no single indent. While this guitar might not be for everybody, it truly lives up to its design claims. If this is truly meant to distribute to a wider guitar-playing audience exactly what Eddie uses, this guitar serves as testament to him."
