Channel your inner Buddy Holly! This is a very, very early Fender Pro. Although no one knows much for sure... the likelihood that a partially blind guy named Clarence helped build this amp is very reasonable. Please do not take any of my stats as fact, and do your own research, but I believe this to be the very first generation small face that were made from 1948 to 1953. Maybe this one is a '48. Maybe it's a '50. At 783, it's not much after the sperm hit the egg.
It has been recovered and likely not all original. There are at least some caps replaced and there is no way that these are all original tubes. I spent a fortune on it getting it to sound amazing. And boy does it! Leo got it right in the beginning, you can move a lot of tone air with a 15 inch speaker. The Fender Pro is one of my favorite sounding amps that I've ever played and I've owned a number of them.
I believe these to be the only really amazing pedal platform early Fender amps. All the late 40's and early 50's Fenders are my favorite sounding amps.... but I don't think they make great pedal platforms..... with the exception of the pro.
I'm trying to buy a very expensive black guard right now so I'm letting go of some gems. Do your research and ask a lot of questions, because there is definitely no returns on a 40lb amp.
