Yamaha APX600 BL Thinline Acoustic-Electric Guitar Built in Tuner, Black

As an electric guitarist in the '80s, if you wanted to play acoustic on stage there were few options available. In 1987, Yamaha made the first acoustic guitar that could be taken from a guitar rack, plugged in and played at volume, problem free; no more howling feedback, misplaced mics or dreaded extended sound checks.

The latest APX600 features a unique under-saddle piezo pickup, the Yamaha proprietary SRT transducer featured in the highly-acclaimed A Series range, a natural tone and the feedback rejection and mix-friendly sound guitarists crave.

Although its style has evolved, the essence of the APX remains the same. Today, it boasts a more natural look, a deeper body for better bass response and greater volume, and a new non-scalloped bracing pattern for a responsive, dynamic tone.

Combines all the attributes that made its predecessor, the APX500, one of the world’s best-selling acoustic-electric guitars, along with a few comfort and cosmetic upgrades.

These guitars are a great fit for country, rock and blues, and suited to players ranging from beginners to professionals. Acoustic electric guitars have surpassed conventional acoustic guitars in popularity, and the upgraded APX and CPX models address the trend towards smaller-body and shorter-scale instruments.
The new guitars are successors to the top-selling APX500III and its companion CPX500III; the APX600 continues the company’s thin-body line of guitars, while the CPX600 offers a medium-jumbo profile. While the new models maintain the scalloped bracing and premium electronics of the 500III generation, key new features include fresh finishes for both models, and an upgrade to a genuine abalone rosette in the APX600 for a superior acoustic tone. In addition, the scale length of the APX model has been shortened from 25 9/16" to 25" for greater playability.

Because the guitars are built in Yamaha owned and operated facilities, they adhere to the same standards and practices as the company’s higher-end handcrafted guitars, at a price point competitors can’t match.
The thin-body APX600 features a spruce top, eastern mahogany back and sides, die-cast tuners and the Yamaha exclusive System55T preamp, a 1-way piezo pickup with 3-band EQ with an adjustable midrange, and an onboard tuner. The medium-jumbo (Compass) profile CPX600 is the full-bodied sibling of the APX600, and also offers a spruce top; eastern mahogany back and sides; die-cast tuners, and System55T preamp.

Body depth and Bracing pattern

The APX’s thin-line body offers incredible comfort, top-fret access, and a sound perfect for on-stage use. Specially designed non-scalloped X-type bracing maximizes body resonance for full, natural tone.

APX Soundhole : Oval

The instantly recognizable APX soundhole thickens lower-mid response and gives a more strident, open low-end.

Electric system : Piezo pickup system for APX600

This pickup uses individual elements for each string to give an ultra-clear, ultra-wide bandwidth signal with far better dynamic response and tonal accuracy than a regular piezo pickup.
