A Great Instrument, Paying Tribute to a Great Artist
The Martin OMJM John Mayer Special Edition acoustic-electric guitar is an exceptionally well-appointed instrument with a glorious sound and touch. This OMJM follows on the heels of the super-limited-release Martin OM-28JM John Mayer Signature Edition -- an instrument so rare, only 404 were produced in 2003. When these were snapped up by collectors, a re-release was immediately demanded by acoustic players who came to prize the unique sound of its spruce/rosewood tonewood combo, and the feel of its specially carved Spanish cedar neck.

A Voice All Its Own
The OMJM John Mayer Special Edition distinguishes itself with a solid top of Engelmann spruce, scalloped solid Sitka spruce top braces, and a back and sides made from solid East Indian rosewood. The tonal character resulting from this combo is one-of-a-kind. It is extremely warm in the lows and low-mids, with a perfectly balanced sparkle in the high range. It is rich in overtones and extremely responsive and subtle to the touch.

Unique Feel and Play, with Mayer Custom Inlays
This Martin's uniquely contoured neck is carved from Spanish cedar in a low profile contour, sporting a diamond volute that imparts a feel of solidity and comfort in the hands. The 1-11/16-inch width and low-profile shape make for a guitar that frets fast and almost effortlessly. The fingerboard is black African ebony inlaid with mother-of-pearl dots on 5 frets. The 12th fret features a custom-designed inlay with two dots flanking a slotted square. John Mayer's signature is inlaid in mother-of-pearl between the 19th and 20th frets.

Pre-Installed Top-Shelf Electric Pickup
The OMJM's African ebony bridge is fitted with a compensated TUSQ saddle, under which is mounted the factory-installed Martin Gold Plus Natural pickup system. This under-saddle transducer is connected to an endpin-mounted, miniaturized preamp that allows you to plug the OMJM right in and get a great, natural sound immediately. You can run this direct to combo amplifiers, PAs, recording consoles, computer interfaces, or through a direct box with equally great results. No mere collector's item, this Martin is made to be taken out and played!

Many Subtle Aesthetic Details
The John Mayer Special Edition's headplate is made from beautiful East Indian rosewood and sports the older-style Martin decal in a rarely-seen silver. The Gotoh opengeared tuners are made of high-quality nickel and sport butterbean knobs. Unique and stylish aesthetic touches include a Style 45 rosette with a center ring inlaid in richly colorful paua shell. You'll also notice sophisticated touches like herringbone binding around the top, black and white purfling around the back, and an HD Style zigzag back strip. The traditional tortoise-colored pickguard is cut in the classic OM teardrop shape, polished and beveled at the edges.
