Hi folks, I have for sale a stunning Fender L-series Stratocaster from late 1963 early 1964 period, This was stripped from its original colour and by the looks of the aged natural colour it has been done a long time ago leaving a cool natural finished look, it was never refinished afterwards. This instrument comes with an interesting bit of history; the previous owner bought it in 1982 and used it for countless recordings and over a thousand gigs some of which with Sting (Dominic Miller loved this guitar), PJ Proby and Noel Redding (Jimi Hendrix's bass player). Besides the finish, the instrument is almost all original with the exception of the volume pot (an early 1963 pot is now installed instead) and frets (it had a refret about 20 years ago) also a 5-way switch was installed many years ago but it’s now back to the original 3-way switch. The original pickguard has a few cracks near the 3-way switch and the 2x tone knobs as can be seen on the pictures, but this doesn’t affect playability at all, its just cosmetic. The neck is dated JAN 64 and the body is late 63, its a transition period guitar, volume pot was replaced by an early 1963 (304–63 34) and the original 2x tone pots are from late 1963 and read 137–63 46, the 3x blackbottom pickups plus all remaining parts are all original to this guitar. The kluson set of tuners is double line and maybe aren’t original to this guitar as early 1964 had the standard single line kluson tuners installed but as Leo Fender never waisted his spare parts could be this guitar was installed with double line tuners instead of single line, I’ve seen this before on other early 1964 Fender guitars. The tremolo block is fully functional although there is a small tip of the tremolo arm that broke inside years ago meaning the original tremolo arm screwing end was cut shorter allowing it to still screw into the block and function normally. Also the neck was refinished once but never affected the neck date nor the original Fender decal, it only affected the corners of the headstock and luckily didn’t reach the decal at all but it’s a minor blemish hardly to be seen, maybe the next owner wants to remove this through a luthier if it bothers him but didn’t bother me as it was minimal. There's a small crack at the body/neck joint (see photo) that was professionally repaired and doesn't affect playability, I'm sure if the next owner decides to refinish it this small crack wont be noticed with the new nitro colour on top. All period tool marks including the dowel marks are present on the body. This guitar plays and sounds simply breath taking, it’s a true player with plenty of mojo and ready to rock 'n' roll, also I’m sure it has played in loads of smoky bars and places of the kind as it got a darker shade on the natural wood maybe from all the cigarette smoke spreading around inside the music joints. Also check out the picture where the guitar can be seen in the hands of the guitarist behind Sting. Included with the sale is a Fender hard case “tale logo” late 60s not original to this guitar but a true vintage Fender case. Guitar will be shipped with Fedex only for a guaranteed quick and safe delivery hence the high shipping costs!

Best of luck 😉
