Gibson 1958 Korina Flying V 1958 Natural

Sorry, this listing is no longer available.

Original Flying V early example and possible prototype. The guitar was in the blues community here in St. Louis. It was originally purchased at Sonny Shields Music in East St. Louis IL. The last pic is it while it was in the Oliver Sain Band with Fontella Bass.

I acquired it in 1991 and affected these repairs: Put the pick guard tip back on, redid the neck joint where the neck had been broken off by the original owner and had a sloppy repair, repaired a piece of missing wood on the back tip of the headstock, all in 1991.

All the parts are original except 3 tuner tulips as the originals turned to dust. Also the pickups are the original gold PAFs with a great balance. The black surround has been glued together also.

The original owner was the guitar player in the Oliver Sain Band and you can hear the guitar on Fontella Bass' great hit "Rescue Me". He was known as "Footes". After his untimely demise it was purchased by "Big Henry" Taylor, another blues man from Mississippi. Around here many bluesmen where attracted to Albert King who lived just north of East St. Louis in Lovejoy IL. Shields Music moved more flying V's for Gibson then any other Single shop, most likely because of Albert's influence in the area.

I have been the only owner of it since 1991 when I took it out of the blues community here. This thing sounds and plays amazing with a nice full neck profile and easy access to controls. It has a sizzle to it that sits really well in the sonic spectrum. Needless to say, it comes with it's original oblong hardshell case. Shipping price is for hand delivery virtually anywhere.
