James Tyler Midboost (made by Demeter)
and JHS based buffer combo pedal
I love the Tyler mid-boost circuit (optional upgrade on James Tyler guitars). I had purchased a standalone Tyler mid-boost on Reverb a while back. It's relatively small, to fit on-board a guitar.
I always keep a buffer on my board, which is a small circuit as well.
It occurred to me the Tyler board, and a buffer are small enough to both fit In one enclosure. This gave me the ability to run my always-on buffer, and a Tyler midboost with ANY of my guitars. Best of all, it takes up less space on my pedalboard!
The pedal is wired with a hand-wired tagboard buffer, based on the JHS Little Black Buffer (which is always on). It next runs into a true-bypass switch to the original Tyler Midboost circuit. Housed in a red sparkle powder coated enclosure for durability. I use German made silver solder, usually used for higher quality audio equipment.
One-knob, super simple, sounds great. The boost thickens the tone, pushes the mids, but is not as noisy and over-the-top like a Clapton mid-boost.
NOTE: This pedal requires 9 to 18 VDC (center negative) from a typical pedal power supply. It is not wired for a 9 volt battery
