The Audio-Technica AT897 is an 11" Line + Gradient shotgun condenser mic designed for a variety of field audio acquisition applications. It mounts conveniently on a DV camcorder without adding noticeable heft, and is designed to remain out of frame, even when using compact digital cameras. This high-performance short shotgun mic provides remarkable long-distance audio pickup thanks to its narrow acceptance angle of line + gradient design. It also features smooth, natural-sounding on-axis audio quality as well as excellent off-axis rejection of sound arriving from the mic's rear and sides. It operates on either battery or phantom power.
