This receiver/amp is the meaning of Vintage COOL! It has not been fully tested but has been given a clear circuit, cap, trans, wiring test by a local stereo guru, who claims that the receiver would be functional, but asked us to not turn it on, to prevent any potential damage before resale. He states that it needs a complete recap before power on. He claims all of he transformers were good, and the tubes are older. His comment was "It would be a good winter project for someone."

Since it was to be a resale item from the beginning, he said that the best idea would be to let the person who buys it be the person who, does another inspection, and puts the work into it to get it back to factory specs/shape.  We didn't want to sink any more money into it, considering that a recap and new tubes would set us pretty far back, and the money we have into it already is pretty much what we are selling it for. A fully serviced, retubed, recapped, restored Sansui 1000 A is going for upwards of 2K on ebay.

So the unit is functional, but essentially, we are afraid to turn it on. If someone is a tube amp enthusiast and knows their way around this, they would have a really great receiver at a low price. If you are not, what you may have to put into it will be just about the absolute value of this receiver. Being in the resale game, we only like to sink money into a profitable item, so we are selling it pretty much at cost.

There are some surface scratches on the case, that are not that concerning for a 50 year old receiver. Cosmetically for it's age, I would still rate it at 8 out of 10.
