The Sheesham travel lute has a body made of eleven solid Sheesham staves, a Sheesham neck, and a Sheesham fingerboard. The pegbox is solid Sheesham attached at an angle of 135 degrees to reduce the depth of the instrument. The tuning pegs and endpins are Sheesham. The soundboard is made out of European spruce. There are eight nylon frets and four Sheesham frets. The recommended tuning is G4, D4, A3, F3, C4, C3, G3, G2, F3, F2, D3, and D2.
Throughout history, lutes have typically had gut strings. Lute strings today, however, are made of nylon with high-precision instruments. The rectified nylon strings in the Roosebeck set are known for their warmer tone and lightly textured feel. The silver-plated copper wound nylon bass strings also produce a very warm, classical tone. We recommend the traditional Renaissance tuning for this set.

SPECIAL NOTE ON STRINGS:
There is no warranty on strings. Manufacturers recommend that you change the strings every 3-4 months. It is always a good idea to keep an extra set of strings to replace any that may break. You should always wipe down your strings with a clean, dry cloth after use. If you store your instrument, you should consider changing the strings when you pick it up again.
