The "Hombre" suitcase kick drum!
Side Show Drums uses vintage suitcases and a combination of new and used drum hardware to build one of a kind, custom suitcase drums. Each item they build is a combination of suitcase, parts, and pieces brought together to make a truly unique instrument for you to enjoy. This time we have a vintage American Tourister suitcase which measures approximately 21"w x 18"h x 9" deep.
The interior of the suitcase has been re-lined to help protect whatever additional hardware you store inside.
The bass pedal mount has been attached permanently to the bottom of the case and features a rubber top to help secure your pedal.
Two floor tom legs have been mounted to the sides of the suitcase, making the drum very stable.
Two 10mm percussion mounts have been added to the top of the case for the addition of a cowbell, tambourine, cymbal or wood block.
A 3" rubber port has been cut into the resonant side of the suitcase.
Softer beaters tend to sound better with this type of kick drum but experiment with others to get the sound you are after.
All the latches on the case still function properly but there is no key.
