Vintage Lexicon PCM-41 Digital Delay Processor (Early Model - Serial #1404) with custom external control mods. Seller is original owner.
Description:
Highly sought-after, early-production Lexicon PCM-41 Digital Delay Processor, carrying a low serial number of #1404. This is the legendary 12-bit PCM unit prized for its unique, warm modulation, iconic slapbacks, and organic clock-swept flanging/chorus effects that defined the sound of 1980s studio and touring guitar rigs. This unit has been safely stored in a climate-controlled environment, and all functionality works perfectly. It is cosmetically in good vintage condition: the front and rear panels are in excellent shape, with minor rack rash on the less visible top and bottom covers.
Important Modification Notice:
This unit features professional hardware modifications on the rear panel, installed during the 1980s for live guitar-rig switching integration. The back panel has additional 1/4" jacks for on/off switching of VCO, Bypass, and Feedback (Repeat), as well as 1/4” jacks to support expression pedal control of VCO and Feedback. There is also a hardwired ON/OFF (dry/wet) mini-toggle switch. These mods were commonly added by rack technicians (such as Bradshaw/CAE, though I don’t recall who did the work for me at the time) in order to support external relay switchers and controls. The modifications are undocumented but self-evident. If the new owner doesn’t intend to use these mods they can be safely ignored, and the operation of the unit will be exactly as designed by Lexicon. (btw, the original PCM-41 owner’s manual and related documentation is readily available online; I’m happy to send you links)
This is a great opportunity for a vintage rack enthusiast or tech to grab a rare, low-serial-number PCM-41 at a fair price. Packed and shipped by me, directly from metro Nashville. Please review the photos for exact cosmetic condition. Feel free to message me with any questions!
