*Here at Gordy's Music in Ferndale, Michigan, we are so proud and grateful to receive the REVERB TOP 300 SELLERS Certificate for the second year in a row! A real honor. We want to start by thanking all of you, our customers, my partner wife Marcia, top notch crew, and Reverb.com. We have quite a team and will strive to get this certificate year after year.*
NOTE: I tried to picture the 3 imperfections. One very light scratch on the top of body from the binding toward the sound hole, and 2 specs to the wood in the finish 1 on the side and 1 on the tip of the headstock. All really hard to notice. Maybe I am tired but I see no scratching on the pickguard.

Here we have a near mint 2021 Gibson Custom Shop fully original L-2 Banner 1942 re-Issue acoustic. The guitar has the look of being new with a few very minor blemishes-dings as mentioned above. After cleaning and seasoning the rosewood fretboard I put on a fresh set of Ernie Ball .12-.54 Phosphor Bronze Alloy 2150 strings . The guitar plays and sounds fantastic!
Huge tone from a smaller bodied guitar.
With frets like new and no issues this instrument is ready to ship.
Comes with a new pictured hard foam case that protects really well and is very light. We really like these cases especially for really fine guitars like this that come in with no case or a gig bag.

History & Story of LG-2:
The Original 1942 Era: The original LG-2 launched in 1942 during World War II. Because of wartime metal and resource shortages, Gibson put a script decal reading "Only a Gibson Is Good Enough" on the headstock, which collectors now call the "Banner" logo.
The "Little Giant" Character: Despite its compact concert-size body, the LG-2 was engineered to deliver deep, woody projection, dynamic range, and clear individual notes that rival larger guitars (like dreadnoughts), making it a favorite for folk, blues, and fingerstyle players.
Reissue Years Made: The Gibson Custom Shop introduced modern historic reissues of the 1942 Banner LG-2 starting around 2020 and continuing in production through recent years.
Serial Number Decoding (20214003)
- The serial number format 20214003 aligns with Gibson Custom Shop production conventions where the leading digits or structure indicate a build associated with the 2020/2021 production cycles of these historic reissues (with custom shop serials often embedding the year or ranking code depending on the exact stamp batch.

NOTE: Too cool. Late last summer we shipped a 1967 MapleGlo Rickenbacker 6-12 Converter 'comb' guitar to Billy Corigan of Smashing Pumpkins! We also then shipped a vintage 50 watt Marshall head to L.A. studio-touring guitarist extraodinaire, Michael Landau, and 2 vintage guitars to Jack White's organization down in Nashville just a few days before his 50th. birthday! mmm? Add 'The Kentucky Head Hunters' to the list, just sold Greg a cool little 50's Valco tube combo amp!
Gordy's Music has become a Detroit institution! Our shop was used as a filming location for a few films like "Miracle in Motor City" a Christmas movie on Lifetime (featuring Smoky Robinson). We've supplied gear for movies including "Bill & Ted Face The Music" with Keanu Reeves. We've got decades of celebrity customers, including recent visits from Beck, Eric Johnson, and we recently sold Billy Joel's bassist a cool Gibson SG he is in love with. One day a while back Andre 3000 and his group stopped in to browse as they were playing Masonic Temple that night and right after that we sold an old oil can Morley Wah Vibrato pedal to Credence Clearwater Revival's thee John Fogerty!
We are having and have had a lot of fun here at Gordy's Music! I was just remembering about 35 years ago a tour bus pulled up to our little shop, and who rolls right in and hangs out for an hour? Lenny Kravitz and his entire group, right about the same time I was selling many guitars to and chauffeuring around Dee Dee Ramone who had an apartment a block down from my house.
