Too bad this vintage Dual 1218 (made sometime in the 1972 - 1975 zone) is in rough shape cosmetically, because it's an absolute dream mechanically. Work done includes:
- Complete mechanical teardown, cleaning, relubrication
- New idler wheel fitted for smooth, even, rumble-free play
- Upgraded with new audiophile-grade cabling and gold-contact cable ends
- Vintage Pickering V15 cartridge fitted with new, zero-hour stylus
- Upgraded with brand-new cartridge sled to ensure perfect, corrosion-free signal contact and zero channel dropouts
- Damping cylinder refilled with correct-viscosity oil for smooth, gentle cueing
As for the cosmetic condition, you can see for yourself: It's not great (no dust cover, either). it's also missing the platter retaining clip, which isn't an issue unless you intend to play it upside-down. In which case this isn't the turntable for you. But if you're looking for a spectacular-sounding turntable in tip-top mechanical and electronic shape, this is the one!
