1927 Martin 0-28 *12 Fret Monster*
*Be sure to check out the demo of this exact guitar as the last photo slide above or the YouTube link below*
99 years on earth and its aging like fine wine! This is a small-bodied 12 fret that sounds enormous. Adirondack spruce top, Brazilian back and sides, bar frets, V neck, 1 7/8" nut, the whole nine yards. Action is fantastic and it has plenty of saddle left for anyone wanting to go lower. It's had its fair share of work throughout the years including:
- Replaced pyramid bridge (and possibly bridge plate)
- A few top and back cracks (all glued or cleated)
- Finish touch up around repaired spots, but 95% original finish (looks great under black light)
- Non-original end pin
Most of what I've read shows that 28 series began shipping with steel strings sometime in 1926, then the tops were made thicker in 1928 making this a really neat in between having steel strings and a slightly thinner top. The resonance is insane.
Nut Width: 1 7/8"
String Spacing (e to E): 2 3/8"
Low E at 12th: 2.25mm
High e at 12th: 2mm
Approx. 3mm saddle showing at low E
As the demo shows, it's a great strummer and finger picker. Despite its size, it's incredibly versatile and has overtones for days. Ships with non-original HSC. Feel free to reach out with any questions!
