ARP Solina String Ensemble SE-IV — Made in Holland
In excellent condition for its age, this Dutch-made ARP Solina String Ensemble SE-IV represents the classic string-machine line produced approximately between 1974 and 1981. All buttons, switches, and keys work as expected. It has been in my care for 20 years without any issues, receiving only light gentle use in my home studio.
At the heart of its sound is the ensemble effect—the magic sauce that turns a simple chord into a lush, shimmering wash. Its complex modulation creates the impression of multiple voices moving together, giving sustained notes depth and animation and allowing chords to bloom into a rich ensemble texture.
This unit features the Modulation on/off button, allowing you to switch between the direct sound and the rich ensemble effect. The earliest units lacked this switching option, with the ensemble effect permanently engaged.
From gently held harmonies to sweeping string passages, the Solina brings its distinctive sound and character to a studio or keyboard setup.
