Princeton Brown 6G2 clone, about 5 years old. Built with Sozo and Sprague caps, ClassicTone Transformer, Tube Doctor 6v6 power tubes. Works as designed and sounds really good, tremolo works fine and is deep and slows down nicely. Amp was built with a standby switch, an additional speaker jack and a negative feedback switch (see below). This amp was used at home only, never hauled around or gigged. If you want some vintage Fender tone for some small money, get this one on the way to your house today. 18 1/4"L X 8 1/2"W X 9 1/2" Tall
1. The NFB Lift Mod (No Negative Feedback)This is the most popular modification for the 6G2. Builders install a mini-toggle switch on the back panel (or use a push-pull potentiometer) to break the connection of the negative feedback wire entirely. [1, 2]
- The Result: Disconnecting it turns the 6G2 into an "open loop" amplifier (similar to a Tweed-era circuit or a Vox AC30). The amp immediately becomes much wilder, hotter, and thicker, bursting into smooth harmonic overdrive much earlier on the volume dial. It lifts the raw "chime" and compression of the amplifier, though it slightly increases the background hiss. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6]
The 6G2 is the circuit designation for the vintage Fender Princeton tube guitar amplifier produced during the "brownface" era from 1961 to 1963 (with rare transitional models appearing into 1964). [1, 2, 3]Key Specifications & Features
