Dynaudio M3 MkII Passive 3-Way Main Studio Monitor (Black)

The Dynaudio Acoustics M3 MkII is a three-way main monitor for small to medium music rooms and film dubbing theaters, built to run continuously at high power. Two 30 cm MSP woofers, two 15 cm MSP midrange drivers and a high-power Esotar 3 dome tweeter cover 35 Hz to 20 kHz and reach 123 dB at 2 meters with a stereo pair. It is a passive speaker, and Dynaudio recommends two amplifier channels of 500 to 1000 W per speaker.

Design

Dynaudio designed the M3 MkII to eliminate cone break-up, thermal compression and phase misalignment at high levels, so the response stays full and flat as the volume goes up. The Esotar 3 tweeter also appears in Dynaudio's high-end home and theater speakers. The system is driven two-way active, with a passive network inside the cabinet dividing the midrange and tweeter. Dynaudio's DA40 DSP amplifier or a pair of DCA800 amplifiers with filters handle the active split.

Installation

The M3 MkII can stand on stands or be flush-mounted in a wall, which raises its low-frequency output. Dynaudio puts the best listening distance at 1.5 to 5 meters, measured from the center of the tweeter, and the woofers can sit on the inside or the outside of the pair to suit the room. The speaker connects through gold screw-down 4 mm binding posts, and no cabling is supplied, since every installation is built to the room. Dynaudio recommends that a qualified engineer with measurement gear carries out the final setup and alignment.
