The Universal Audio Volt 476 is a 4-in/4-out USB audio interface for a home studio that records a voice or guitar alongside synths and sound modules. Two front combo inputs each have a Vintage preamp, inspired by UA's 610 tube preamp, and an analog 76 Compressor based on UA's 1176 Limiting Amplifier. Two more line inputs on the back take keyboards or other line-level gear, and four line outputs sit beside the monitor outputs. Conversion runs at up to 24-bit/192 kHz.

Inputs and Analog Processing

Inputs 1 and 2 accept a microphone, a line source or an instrument, with 55 dB of gain, an INST button for guitar or bass and 48 V phantom power shared by both XLR inputs. The 76 Compressor presets, all at 6:1, cover smooth vocals (VOC), guitar and bass with longer sustain (GTR) and fast, aggressive compression (FAST). Line inputs 3 and 4 are balanced 1/4" jacks with no gain controls, so any level adjustment happens in your software.

Monitoring and Outputs

Four Monitor Source buttons choose what reaches the speakers and headphones: inputs 1-2, inputs 3-4, computer outputs 1-2 and computer outputs 3-4, so you can hear the inputs, the computer or both. A Mono button centers the direct inputs. Line outputs 1-4 carry unattenuated audio straight from your software, and outputs 3-4 can be assigned for extra monitoring. Volt 476 runs from the included power supply.
